Class of 2026 Summa Cum Laude

The Vicksburg High School class of 2026’s Summa Cum Laude students have set an extraordinary standard of excellence. 

Each has earned a GPA above 4.15, while collectively completing more than 150 Advanced Placement and dual enrollment courses, an impressive testament to their commitment to academic rigor. 

Beyond the classroom, these students truly stand out. They are athletes, actors, artists, musicians, volunteers, and employees, all balancing demanding schedules with dedication and determination. Their achievements reflect not only academic success, but a well-rounded pursuit of excellence that defines the very best of Vicksburg High School. 

Congratulations to our top students from the class of 2026: Rinzel Arroyo, Adelynn Beery, Sophia Browe, Kayla Chisholm, Luke Deal, Maya Grossman, Hailey Havera, Avila Huff, Michael Johnson, Anthony Marchese, Hannah Moyer, Everett Radgens, Maddox Rosalin, Solana Sutherland, and Jakob VanDoren.

Rinzel Arroyo, Salutatorian

Rinzel Arroyo, Salutatorian

Rinzel is the Salutatorian for the class of 2026.  He is a 4-year academic award winner, a 4-year KAMSC student, an AP Capstone student, and AP Scholar with Distinction. Distinction is awarded to students who have passed at least five AP exams with an average score of 3.5 or higher. Rinzel is an Excellence in Education Award winner.

He is also a principal violist for the Kalamazoo Junior Symphony Orchestra.

Rinzel plans to attend the Lyman Briggs Honors College at Michigan State University to study physics.

Adelynn Beery

 Adelynn Beery

Adelynn is a 4-year academic award winner who has also earned her AP Capstone Diploma.  She is involved in the Big Red Machine Marching Band and is the Model UN president. This year, Adelynn earned national recognition after becoming the only high school student selected to present at a major international professional conference. She presented her research at the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) Expo in Orlando, Florida, the premier global conference for professionals in theme parks, attractions, and experiential design. Her project began as part of the VHS AP Research class.

Adelynn plans to attend Michigan State University Honors College to study experience architecture with a focus on theme design, as well as a minor in Spanish.

Sophia Browe

 Sophia Browe

Sophia is a 4-year academic award winner who took 12 AP classes at VHS.  She is an AP Scholar with Distinction, which is awarded to students who have passed at least five AP exams with an average score of 3.5 or higher.

Sophia is a member of the Big Red Machine Marching Band, theater, and is a varsity soccer player.

She plans to attend Michigan State University Honors College to study psychology and sociology. 

Kayla Chisholm

 Kayla Chisholm

Kayla is a 4-year academic award winner who took 12 AP classes at VHS.  She was also the recipient of the NHS Leadership Award and is an Excellence in Education Award winner.

Kayla played softball, volleyball and ran cross country at VHS. She is a member of AIM Higher and NHS.

She plans to attend Eastern Illinois University where she plans to play softball and majoring in nursing with a minor in Spanish.

Luke Deal

Luke Deal

Luke is a 4-year academic award winner with a 4.2 GPA.  He is a member of NHS, and the varsity football and baseball teams.  He was all conference, region, and all state in football and all conference in baseball.

He works at Dicks Sporting Goods and Barrett’s Smokehouse, umpires for Little League and also volunteers for youth football camps.  

Luke plans to attend Northwood University to play football. He plan to major in cyber security.

Maya Grossman, Valedictorian

Maya Grossman, Valedictorian

Maya is the Valedictorian for the class of 2026.  She is a 4-year academic award winner, graduating with a 4.54 GPA, an AP Scholar with Distinction, which is awarded to students who have passed at least five AP exams with an average score of 3.5 or higher, and has earned her AP Capstone Diploma.

Maya is the NHS president, a DECA state champion, a student senate member, and she is also a member of the varsity cross country and tennis teams.

Maya is also an Excellence in Education Award winner She volunteers at the Community Education tennis camps each summer.

Maya plans to attend the University of Wisconsin Madison to study pre-law, focusing on civil rights and environmental law.

Hailey Havera

Hailey Havera

Hailey is a 4-year academic award winner, with a 4.2 GPA, she is also a member of NHS.

She was a member of the varsity volleyball team and volunteers at the Vicksburg volleyball camps for younger students. 

Hailey plans to attend Michigan State University to major in business. 

Avila Huff

Avila Huff 

Avi is a 4-year academic award winner, graduating with a 4.2 GPA, an AP Scholar with Distinction, awarded to students who have passed at least five AP exams with an average score of 3.5 or higher, and has earned her AP Capstone Diploma.

She also earned her Global and Michigan Seal of Biliteracy. She is active in Vicksburg Theater and recently was a star in the musical 42nd Street.

Avi is a member of the wind ensemble and enjoys volunteering for ITS theater camps. 

She plans to attend the University of Michigan to study data science and minor in Spanish. 

Michael Johnson

Michael Johnson

Michael is a 4-year academic award winner, NHS member, and he earned the Global Seal of Biliteracy.  He was also academic all state in football.  

He was voted team MIP his junior and senior year for football.  He also plays travel soccer and volunteers at youth soccer camps. 

He plans to attend the University of Michigan to study media communications with a minor in psychology.

Anthony Marchese

Anthony Marchese 

Tony is a 4-year academic award winner, a member of NHS, and earned the Global Seal of Biliteracy.  He was academic all state in football and BCAM award winner for basketball.

Tony volunteers for Lions Club community events, as well as youth camps in both football and basketball.

He plans to attend Michigan State University to study Mechanical Engineering.

Hannah Moyer

Hannah is a 4-year academic award winner, a member of NHS, she earned the Global Seal of Biliteracy, and is an AP Scholar with Distinction, which is awarded to students who have passed at least five AP exams with an average score of 3.5 or higher. 

Hannah plays varsity tennis, is in the Big Red Machine Marching Band, and is a member of AIM Higher

She also enjoys working for the Vicksburg Arts Youth Advisory and Kids Court Learning Center. Hannah has volunteered for many Vicksburg summer tennis camps as well.   She plans to attend Western Michigan University to study elementary education and psychology.

Everett Radgens

Everett is a 4-year academic award winner, a member of NHS, who took 13 AP classes at VHS.  He is graduating with a GPA of 4.39.

He is a member of the track and cross country teams, and in the drumline for the Big Red Machine Marching Band. 

Everett is also an Excellence in Education Award winner. 

Everett volunteers for the Kalamazoo Drop-in Daycare, Meals on Wheels, and the Can Shine Bike Camp.

He plans to attend Michigan State University to study  electrical engineering. 

Maddox Rosalin

Maddox is a 4-year academic award winner who took 11 AP classes at VHS, he is a member of NHS, and earned the Global Seal of Biliteracy. 

He is a member of the varsity tennis and baseball teams.

Maddox volunteers for Weinberg Farms and Twelve Baskets Food Pantry.

He plans to attend the University of Michigan School of Business to study business administration. 

Solana Sutherland

Solana is a 4-year academic award winner, a member of NHS, Model UN and DECA, she is an AP Scholar with Distinction, awarded to students who have passed at least five AP exams with an average score of 3.5 or higher.  

She plays varsity tennis, soccer, and cross country where she was team captain.  

Solana volunteers for Kalamazoo Drop-in Daycare, Sunset Lake Elementary, and Twelve Baskets Food Pantry.

She plans to attend the University of Michigan biopsychology, cognition and neuroscience (BCN).

Jakob VanDoren

Jakob VanDoren 

Jake is a 4-year academic award winner who took 10 AP classes at VHS, and is a member of NHS.

He is a member of the varsity soccer team where he was a 2 time team captain and academic all state.

Jake volunteers at Weinberg Farms, Twelve Baskets Food Pantry, and helps with youth soccer camps.  

He plans to attend the University of Michigan with direct admission into the nursing program.
